Why do you need my Personal Information?
The information we receive from customers helps us continually improve your shopping experience. Here are the types of information we gather:
Information You Give Us: We receive and store any information you enter on our Web site, provide over the phone or send us by email. We use the information for such purposes as responding to your requests and improving the heatrail.co.uk site.

Other Information

Security on the heatrail.co.uk site

Is your internet connection secure?

Your payment and order details are normally sent to us across a secure connection that uses a 128 bit certificate. This means that the information is encrypted and cannot be read by anyone other than ourselves. You can see that the pages are secure because the address in the address bar changes from being http:// to https://. You will also see a padlock symbol or key in the bottom bar of your browser.

Some computers prevent this secure connection and we provide a less secure connection to customers who encounter this problem. If required you can use our standard server to place an order. Although this will resolve the problem, you should be aware that your details will be passed to us without being encrypted.

Please take the utmost care whenever you visit our or any other e-commerce site and in particular, make sure that nobody is able to obtain your password (if you use one). Once you have completed your purchase and to ensure all confidential information is removed, we recommend that you close all browsers.

Payment Information

We accept most major credit and debit cards including Visa, American Express, MasterCard, Delta, Switch, Solo, and Visa Electron. Currently we do not accept Diners Card.

What Security Checks do you carry out?

As part of our policy to protect against the fraudulent use of credit/debit cards, we carry out random security checks on orders. These can take various forms, and from time to time it may be necessary for us to ask you to provide a copy of a recent statement header for the card being used on your order. Please note that we are only interested in confirming information already provided on your order, i.e. the billing name and address and card issuer details, and do not need to see actual transactions, which can be covered up. In case you have any concerns regarding security, we can also assure you that all information is shredded as soon as we have confirmed the details required. We hope you appreciate that this is undertaken in the interests of fraud prevention, and is a necessary precaution.

Personal Firewalls

We at heatrail.co.uk have noticed an increase in the use of personal firewall software (e.g. Zone Alarm, PTF, TERMinate and many others). Under certain circumstances these Firewalls may deny access to our (and other web sites) secure servers.
To enable access to secure servers, check that the firewall is configured to allow the web browser to connect over port 443 (SSL). We have also seen instances whereby stopping and restarting the firewall may resolve connectivity problems.

Accounts & Passwords

Your account contains your delivery and billing details, e-mail preferences and a record of your orders. You will need your e-mail address and password to see or edit your personal details. Please note that we do not store your credit card details online.

If you are a New Customer, you can create an account by going to the My Account page.

If you can’t remember your Password, go to the My Account page, enter your e-mail address, click on ‘Forgotten your password?’ and it will be automatically e-mailed to you. (Please note that, for security reasons, our Customer Service team cannot see your password, so are unable to confirm it for you.)

However, we know that many customers don’t like passwords, so we now also offer the option to shop at heatrail.co.uk without one. You will still need an e-mail address, which will be used to confirm receipt and dispatch of your order, and to communicate with you in case of any problems.

Should you not choose a password, our system will automatically issue one to you at random, however you have the choice whether you use this or not. If you do decide to do so at a later stage, you can then amend it to a password of your choice.

Please note that each time you select this method of shopping, you will need to re-enter all your details again, as they cannot be retrieved without a password.
